Celebrated annually August 1, National Huddie Ledbetter Day™ is a music history awareness holiday that honors the life and legacy of Louisiana native, musical pioneer, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and King of the 12-String, Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter. The holiday is established by Lead Belly relative-Global Activist Greshun De Bouse-to raise awareness and educate all on the Lead Belly impetus for past, present, and future music across multiple genres. The holiday is celebrated by "Leadbellians" (fans) everywhere, who are encouraged to educate and re-educate themselves and others on the significance of Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter.
